Police names victims of Najjembe New year’s fatal accident. The Uganda Police Force has issued a statement of the Najjembe fatal accident left 3 people dead and six seriously injured.
According to ASP Faridah Nampiima the Traffic PRO, the accident occured on 1st January 2022 near Najjembe Trading Centre – Mabira along Jinja- Kampala Highway in Buikwe district involving two motor vehicles Registration number UAL 958Q Toyota Corona premio and Motor vehicle registration number UAZ 558P/UAL 793X Man trailer.
ASP Nampiima identified the deceased as a 32 year old Yunus Kalema a resident of Walusubi trading centre in Mukono district- driver of premio, Lutwama Rajab 48 years resident of Walusubi and a female juvenile aged 4 years passenger all passengers in the Premio.
The traffic PRO revealed that among the injured were three female adults and one male adult was not yet identified while the two Juveniles aged 13 years & Maimuna 7 years have been identified as children of Lutwama Rajab, the deceased.
It’s alleged that the Toyota corona premio that was being driven by Kalema Yunus from Jinja to Kampala side, lost control, crossed the lane to the opposite side and rammed into (side) motor vehicle registration number UAZ 558P/UAL 793X trailer that was being driven by Takwana Karim 57 years from Kampala to Jinja side.
ASP Nampiima stressed that the injured were rushed to Mulago National Referral hospital for further medical attention while the bodies of the deceased were taken to Kawolo hospital mortuary for postmortem.
