Kampala Archdiocese sets date for installation of Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere. The installation of Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere is slated for January 25, 2022, at Lubaga Cathedral. This was revealed by Rev. Fr. Pius Male Ssentumbwe, the Chancellor Kampala Archdiocese, on Thursday, January 6, 2022.
Cardinal Luigi Bianco, the Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda, on Thursday, December 9, 2021, announced that Pope Francis has appointed Bishop Ssemogerere to the position, replacing Cyprian Kizito Lwanga who died in April.
Archbishop Ssemogerere prayed for the guidance of the Holy Spirit in the new service.
“Believing in the continuous presence of the Holy Spirit, I have the courage to take on this responsibility to fill the vacuum left by a hardworking and focused leader, Archbishop Lwanga,” he said.
Bishop Ssemogerere was born on June 30, 1956, in Nkumba, Kampala Archdiocese.
He studied Primary School in Kigero (1964-1966) and Kisubi (1967–1971), Secondary School at Katende (1972-1976).
He entered the Major Seminary of Philosophy of Mbaaga, Kampala (1976-1978) and studied Theology in St. Francis, Milwaukee, U.S.A. (1978-1982), where he obtained a Master in Divinity.
He was ordained a priest on June 3, 1983, by Cardinal Emmanuel Nsubuga.
