VIDEO: A bomb explosion in Komamboga kills Ugandans. An explosion has happened this evening in Komamboga, Kyanja a Kampala suburb leaving scores of revelers dead. The explosion occurred a few minutes past 9:00 pm on Saturday night.
The police authorities in charge of the area have confirmed the explosion but said details are scanty. Police couldn’t confirm the number of people killed and injured.
In a press release by the Uganda Police Spokesperson through the Uganda Police Force official Twitter account Mr. Fred Enanga says the Police at Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP), has swiftly responded to save those who are severely injured at the Digida eating point, in Kawempe Division, Kampala after an explosion. However, one person has so far been fatally wounded and seven others have been rushed to Mulago National Referral hospital, with serious injuries.
“The scene has been cordoned off, and our joint task teams from the bomb squad have been called to thoroughly document the scene, to help determine whether the explosion arose out of an intentional act or not.”
We ask the public to remain calm, as we establish the true circumstances surrounding the incident. Any new developments will be communicated in due course, Enanga added.
In a courtesy video below revelers recount the sadden happening. “Truth is, we do not know the number of people who died or were injured. The place was packed.” An eyewitness explains the destruction the explosion caused where about 7 people were injured.
It is a space of about two weeks after a story written by Andrew Bagala in the Daily Monitor on Friday, October 15, 2021, where the United Kingdom Government (UK) had earlier issued a terror alert in a statement dated Thursday, October 14, 2021, to the Republic of Uganda but police said there was no need to elevate threat levels and this is why many Ugandans think it has come to pass.
“The UK Government called on her nationals to be extremely vigilant about their security especially in crowded and public places like hotels, transport hubs, bars, and during major gatherings like sporting and religious events since the attacks could be indiscriminate in nature.” (read the image below…)
