Uganda cranes midfielder disappears from camp. The Uganda Cranes midfielder Nicholas Kasozi has vanished from the team’s camp at Cranes paradise hotel in Kisaasi.
David Isabirye, the Uganda Cranes Media Officer, says that the player disappeared from the camp without informing the authorities.
“He went out of camp but he never asked permission from authorities, if you are to get out of the bubble you must ask for permission from team manager, Geoffrey Massa or head coach Micho, there is high competition amongst the players you can’t make that mistake,” Isabirye said.
There are reports that the player complained complaining of stomach ache prior to his disappearance from the camp and could have gone for treatment.
However, Isabirye will not have any of this, saying the player’s case would have been handled in the camp. “The doctors here in the camp are fully equipped with all the necessary medical requirements, even if you are sick they can treat you,” Isabirye insisted.
Kasozi had spent some time without receiving a national team call up from 2019. He was finally summoned to the preliminary squad to kick off preparations for the forthcoming CAF World Cup qualifiers. His disappearance from the camp could have ended his dream to play in the world cup qualifiers. Uganda Cranes kicked off preparation for the group E games 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers last week. The group comprises Kenya, Rwanda and Mali.
Uganda’s first game will be against Kenya in Nairobi on September 2nd, 2021. It will four days after host, Mali at the St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende. In December last year experienced goalkeeping coach, Fred Kajoba was ejected from the Uganda Cranes Camp that was preparing for the African Nations Championship-CHAN for alleged non-compliance with the Standard Operating Procedures-SOPs.
The goalkeeping coach had moved out of the camp to attend church services on charismas day without getting permission from the then Uganda Cranes head coach, Johnathan McKinstry
