The Minister of Health in Uganda, Hon. Jane Ruth Aceng has shocked the Parliament assembly with a request of Ush.1.5 billion to be budgeted for in the coming financial year that is meant to help in supervision and therefore aid progress of Lubowa International Specialised hospital construction. She noted that the project has reached critical levels that require close monitoring and supervision.
She made the request while appearing before Parliament’s Health Committee, during the scrutiny of the Ministry’s 2025/26 Budget Framework Paper.
“The construction of Lubowa International Specialised hospital commenced in 2019, however, due to numerous reasons, implementation was delayed.” The minister stated.
“By the date 31st December 2025, the project’s overall physical progress was 45%,” Aceng added.
Aceng also mentioned that construction work is now on going and noted that the project would be fully complete by the end of the calendar year 2025.
