Today, 8th January 2025 Uganda Revenue Authority(URA) through URA Commissioner General, John R Musinguzi during the URA Half-year Revenue Performance Press Briefing that happened at the URA head quarters in Nakawa declared that the Institution was able to surpass their half year revenue collection target.
The net revenue collections for the Half year, that is the period July 2024 -Dec 2024 were UGX 15,248.99 billion against a target of UGX 14,926.85 billion, registering a notable surplus of UGX 322 billion and a performance rate of 102.16 percent
There was an observed growth in net revenue of UGX 2,112.25 billion (16.08 percent) which was registered in July to December financial year 2024/25 compared to July to December financial year 2023/24.
The international Trade revenue collection for July to December was UGX 5,426.46 billion against a target of UGX 5,454.72 billion
“URA has been able to surpass her half year revenue collection because of enhanced compliance initiatives, arrears management, deliberate compliance engagements with the taxpayers, increased Taxpayer training and sensitization, use of alternative dispute resolution, Sector based compliance management, use of information, tax investigations, and use of technology.” The URA commissioner general, John R. Musinguzi stated at the half year revenue performance presser.
It was also noted that 420,183 new tax payers had been added to the tax payer register which growth was accredited to use of 3rd party information, process simplification for Tax Identification Number(TIN) acquisition and increase field operations and engagements.
The commissioner general also thanked tax payers for continuously accomplishing their tax paying responsibilities as citizens of Uganda.
