Rashford scores again as Man Utd wins Bournemouth in EPL. Marcus Rashford scored once more as Manchester United defeated a helpless Bournemouth in the Premier League to extend their winning streak to six games across all competitions.
The England international scored in three straight league games at Old Trafford for the first time as he tapped the ball into an empty net following a Bruno Fernandes feed.
After Casemiro connected on a Christian Eriksen free-kick with a superbly cushioned volley to give Erik ten Hag’s team the lead midway through the first half, his goal completed the scoring.
Four minutes into the second half, they increased their advantage when Luke Shaw, back in his more natural left-back position, finished a lovely, fluid move by sweeping home an Alejandro Garnacho cut-back.
After United scored the first goal, their seventh straight victory at home in all competitions never seemed in doubt. They had started out slowly and had a lot of possession in their defensive third.
They remain in fourth position, but they are now tied for third with Newcastle on 35 points, and possibly most significantly, they now have a five-point lead over fifth-place Tottenham.
Donny van de Beek’s injury in the first half was one thing against United; according to Ten Hag, “we need to wait 24 hours, but it is not looking very good.”
Bournemouth, who didn’t attempt a chance on goal until the 57th minute, remained in 15th position, two points above the relegation zone.
