JUST IN! Uganda confirms first cases of Omicron Covid variant. Uganda has registered 9 cases of covid19 Omicron variant.
The 9 Omicron COVID-19 Variant cases were confirmed among travelers upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport in Uganda.
This variant was recorded a few weeks ago in South Africa and most European countries have since restricted border movements to have their population safe.
Uganda’s Minister of Health Dr. Jane Ruth Acheng has assured Ugandans that they are very keen on people entering Uganda through all borders and will be able to pick them out in case they are found with the virus.
Uganda becomes the first East African nation to register cases of this new virus type that was first sighted in South Africa.
However, this poses a question to whether the Country’s economy will fully open in January next year.
