CID director Akullo critically ill. The Director of Criminal Investigations Department (CID) AIGP Grace Akullo’s absence from the Office for 3 Months remains a huge concern in the police circles.
This website has learned that the chief detective last appeared in her office at the CID headquarters in Kibuli in June before she sought a health leave.
According to Trumpet News, a top official in the Uganda Police Force said Akullo was earlier airlifted to Nairobi, Kenya for very urgent medical attention.
Akullo was later returned to her Kira Residence in Wakiso Municipality after doctors in Kenya “couldn’t do much,” a separate source said.
“A medical diagnosis showed she was suffering from nothing, yet she kept developing complications, couldn’t talk nor move. She has been in total pain,” said a source.
A relative who wished to remain unnamed said until today the AIGP remains in critical condition at her home.
“She rarely talks. We suspect she has issues with her tongue,” a relative said.
It is said that some officers have been told that their boss has been battling Covid-19, but she is steadily improving whereas others still don’t want to speculate, or even comment about Akullo’s health.
The CID spokesperson Charles Twine has referred journalists to consult the family doctor or a close relative on matters regarding his boss’s health.
“I don’t even think it makes the news that someone is sick. But call the family doctor. You can also call Mr. Enanga,” Twine said before hanging up.
Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga couldn’t be reached when contacted on phone.
