KAMPALA – The Ministry of Health has today started the distribution of Insecticide Treated Mosquito nets to market vendors who are spending all their time (day/night) of the lockdown in Markets.
The exercise was launched by the Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary Dr. Diana Atwine along with other officials from the Ministry Headquarters in several markets in the Kampala Metropolitan area including Nakasero and Nakawa markets.
This follows after H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni directed a lockdown for 42 days to curb the surging number of covid19 cases that had put the country to the second wave with widely spread community transmissions.
President Museveni issued new measures to contain COVID-19 last Friday and he directed the Ministry of Health to distribute Mosquito nets to market vendors to prevent them from Malaria during the 42 days of the lockdown.
The ministry has received 2000 Mosquito nets donated by Quality Chemicals Limited led by the Executive Director Mr. Emmanuel Katongole.
According to Dr. Atwine, the Ministry of Health will distribute 3000 nets and KCCA will distribute 2000 mosquito nets during the exercise in all markets around the CITY.
