Worry as 1,936 Ugandans test positive for COVID-19 in 24 hours. From the results of COVID-19 tests done on 31 December 2021, the Ministry of Health in Uganda has confirmed 1,936 new cases representing a 23.3% positivity rate of the 8,048 samples tested.
The new confirmed cases increase the country’s cumulative confirmed cases to 144,540 from 2,160,185 total samples tested so far.
The Ministry also confirmed the death of 5 people who succumbed to COVID-19 bringing the total deaths to 3,302.
According to the Ministry of Health, the country has so far registered 98,489 recoveries with 84 active cases still admitted in different health facilities and 11,377,067 COVID-19 doses have been administered to different countrymen and women.
Among the new cases are 1,888 alerts and contacts with 1,072 from Kampala, 323 from Wakiso, Soroti 64, Gulu 49, Luweero 44, Mbarara 40, Kiruhura 25, Jinja 23, Oyam 21, Abim 17, Mbale 20, Busia 19, Kikuube 13, Tororo 17, Moyo 13, Rakai 11, Bududa 10.
Others are Kiryandongo 9, Gomba 8, Hoima 8, Amuru 7, Mukono 9, Adjumani 6), Kibuku 6, Sironko 6, Kyotera 19, Pakwach 5, Koboko 4, Iganga 2, Buvuma 2), Napak 2, Kitgum 2, Ntungamo 2, Arua 1, Kabarole 1, Kazo 1, Adjumani 2, Amuru 3, Masaka 1,Kanungu 1.
The Ministry also confirmed that 48 truck drivers tested positive for COVID-19 with 39 from Tororo, Kyotera 8 and 1 from Amuru.
