Police nets 4 passengers over Ambulance Misuse in Kayunga. The Police in Kayunga has in its custody four people over misusing an ambulance.
ASP Hellen Butoto, the Sezibwa region police spokesperson revealed that the four were arrested after Police intercepted an over speeding ambulance registration number UBA 564P.
The police spokesperson stressed that this was after they received information that the said vehicle was moving at breakneck speed from Kampala to Kayunga with no patients and that all the efforts to have it stopped at various checkpoints were futile as the driver adamantly refused to stop or adhere to traffic calls.
ASP Butoto narrated that the ambulance was intercepted at Ntenjeru trading center along Kayunga-Bbaale road in Kayunga Town Council but the driver fled from the scene after he was found transporting passengers.
According to Butoto, the four suspects are being detained at CPS Kayunga pending other investigations and have been charged with various offenses including misuse of a vehicle.
The CID Spokesperson Charles Twiine has also confirmed the incident that the arrested individuals are yet to be charged. This was through his official Twitter account.
“Police has impounded this Ambulance that was 2day detected by @PoliceUg Cameras loading 15 passengers and later driven to Kayunga. Upon interception, occupants took off but 4 of them were arrested. The arrested will be charged to Court with the appropriate charges @ODPPUGANDA, Twiine wrote.”
