MoH orders all unvaccinated Health workers to immediately stop working. The Ministry of Health in Uganda has ordered all unvaccinated health workers to vacate their workplaces.
In a letter dated 3rd December 2021 directed to all Chief Administrative Officers, Heads of National referral hospitals and all Directors of regional referral hospitals, Dr. Henry G. Mwebesa the Director General Health Services ordered a follow up on the vaccination of health workers against COVID-19.
According to Dr. Mwebesa, the government of Uganda has prioritized vaccination of the population against COVID-19 as one of the key requirements for the full reopening of the economy, and health workers have been given priority to take the jab.
The Director-General Health Services noted that however the above notwithstanding, he is aware that some health workers are yet to complete the two doses of vaccination or even to receive the first dose of the same.
Following the above, Dr. Mwebesa instructed all unvaccinated health workers to stay away from their places of work until they get vaccinated.
“This is therefore to instruct all health workers who have not received vaccination against COVID-19 at all, must stay away from their respective places of work until they are vaccinated”, part of the letter read.
Dr. Mwebesa also directed that health workers who have received the first dose should continue working but be encouraged to receive the second dose as soon as it is due.
