A team led by Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Health Dr. Diana Atwine and Director General Health Dr Henry G. Mwebesa inspected the rehabilitation and expansion works of Yumbe Hospital.
The hospital has been rehabilitated and expanded from 100 to 200 beds to improve health service delivery in Yumbe District and the entire West Nile Region.
The progress of works at the facility stands at 97% and the stage of completion is expected by December 2020.
The expansion works include; Construction of a new expanded Out Patient Department, Accident and Emergency unit, 3 new Operation rooms and 3 delivery suites, 40 beds for; maternity ward, Female ward, Male ward, Pediatrics and 32 beds for isolation ward.
At the the facility the Ministry has been able to construct a private wing of 38 new staff housing units and an interns hostel to accommodate 20 interns.
