Following the re-opening of schools for candidate classes, the Executive Secretary of Uganda National Examinations Board, Mr. Dan N. Odongo has informed the general public including candidates, teachers and parents that the registration of candidates has started today Thursday, October 22, 2020.
The process is expected to run for five weeks and there will be no room for late registration.
Schools have been urged to ensure that all the candidates register within the given period without increasing registration fees for PLE, UCE, UACE. The registration fees will remain as follows; 34,000/=, 164,000/=, 186,000/= respectively.
“We strongly urge head teachers not to inflate the registration fees, claiming they are UNEB/Registration fees, Odong said.”
Any additional charges that the schools would like to make for administrative purposes should clearly be explained to the parents, and MUST NOT, in any way, be referred to as ‘UNEB fees/ Registration fees, he added.
The Executive Secretary has called upon parents to be vigilant and not to allow exploitation under the guise of ‘UNEB fees.
For candidates under the government programs of Universal Primary Education (UPE), Universal Secondary Education (USE), and Universal Post ‘O’ Level Education and Training (UPOLET), the government will pay the fees after the head teachers have submitted the registration details for the students.
Registration of candidates is now done electronically through the school portals.
UNEB has distributed the E-registration software to the schools through the District Inspectors of Schools and the Area Supervisors to avoid errors and to deal with fraudulent district education officials registering pupils from private primary schools in government schools as UPE candidates.
UNEB has also recognized a challenge of Pregnant learners who have increased in number due to circumstances brought about by the #COVID19 lock-down.
