Foreign Direct Investment plays a big role in the socio-economic developmentof the country including job creation, entrepreneurship development, income distribution and driving innovation among others.
Government of Uganda has identified some of the industrial development challenges including inadequate and expensive externally sourced packaging materials.
“Industrial printing and packaging solutions for advertisementis are critical for industrial development and trade facilitation. I commend the leadership of Graphic solutions on the huge investment in Uganda in the packaging subsector; and for ensuring Green Manufacturing and Environmental friendly practices; as exemplified by the usage of your waste as raw materials by other industries to produce egg-trays and cardboards,” she said.
The Minister said that full utilization of the factory machinery will create more jobs, increase turn-over and enable an increase in Government revenue.
The main objective of the BUBU Policy is to promote the consumption of locally produced goods and services. The Policy provides for preferential treatment to local companies with regard to Government procurement.
The Ministry of Trade is willing to engage with the relevant MDAs like Ministry of Education and Sports to impress them to procure the services of Graphic Systems in the printing of educational materials.
Government of Uganda is investing in the development of the energy sector including the construction of Karuma and Isimba days to increase generation to support industrialization and the matter of unstable electricity supply in various industrial parks like Luzira Industrial Park et al.
