H.E President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has flagged off a fleet of vehicles to help the Ministry
of Health in the fight against COVID-19.
The intention for the strategy is that a crisis fleet is built and spared for such hard times. The
target of the Government of Uganda is to raise at least 1,350 cars and if the motor vehicles are
not misused by officials, every district will have a fleet of about 10 cars.
The President thanked the people of the Republic of Uganda for the spontaneous response
through donating selflessly and for the patience and vigilance in the country’s strategy of limiting
the spread of COVID-19.
The President emphasized that the Government of Uganda engagements in the fight against the
coronavirus have produced good results so far and soon the virus will be defeated.
The efforts which led to the closure of the Entebbe International Airport effective March 22,
2020, at midnight for 32 days has increased sensitivity among Government agencies at various
entry points to the country with a focus on land borders to control immigration and international
trade.
