Government of Uganda through the National Information Technology Authority, Uganda in conjunction with United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund has introduced the Kolibri digital/ e-Learning platform http://e-learning.education.go.ug/ (free-of-charge). The initiative is to assist children during this period of school shutdown caused by the COVID19 pandemic.
The National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA–U) is an autonomous statutory body established under the NITA–U Act 2009, to coordinate and regulate Information Technology services in Uganda under the general supervision of the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance.
The learning platform contains education content approved by the National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) which is aimed at empowering learners with skills required to survive in this era of Information Technology.
The content covers Secondary School Science and Mathematics for Senior 1 up to 4. Each topic is presented with illustrations; some of which are in video format.
However, the users ‘MUST’ have any of the following gadgets to access and use the Kolibri e-learning platform; a Smartphone, Tablet, Laptop or desktop computer.
